J/A+A/CODE IGSL Initital Gaia Source List (Smart, 2013) =========================================================== The Initital Gaia Source List - IGSL version 3 Smart, R. L. =2013A&A ================================================================================ ADC_Keywords: Astrometric data Keywords: Positional_Data Description: The IGSL is a compilation catalog produced for the Gaia mission. We have combined data from the below catalogs or datasets to produce a homogenous list of positons, proper motons, photometry in a blue and red band and estimates of the magnitudes in the Gaia G and G_RVS bands. The mdbcu3auxdataigsligslsource_v3 (or IGSL3) is the source table with all the entries. The sourcecatalogids_10_v3 (or IGSL3ids) is a look up table giving the IDs of the objects in the various source catalogs. Included Catalogs: Tycho2, LQRF, UCAC4, SDSS-DR9, PPMXL, GSC23, GEPC, OGLE, Sky2000, 2MASS. Note that in compiling the various entries we did not consider the individual flags, on the whole we believe the catalog is reliable but there will be errors, mismatches and duplicates. The user should use this catalog with that in mind, it is fine for statistical studies that has some way to remove obviously incorrect entries but it should only be used with care for individual objects. The IGSL was for operational reasons frozen in 9/2013 at v3=version 3. A number of problems were found with the operational version: 1:The 167055567 SDSS objects have their classification inverted, that is stars are classed as 1 and non-stars as 0 or -1. The 197921 GEPC non-stars are classified as 3 instead of 1. 2: The null value for proper motions is not consistent as it is derived from the null values original catalogs. Objects with proper motions and errors of 0 or "null" can be considered not provided except for the LQRF which is a defaulted value and except for the UCAC objects where the null erorrs are set to zero. 3: Approximately 12000 Hipparcos stars were entered twice. These can be identified as the objects with auxHIP=1 and idTYCHO > 9999999000000. They should not be used for any purpose. A version of the IGSL (v4) will be produced where all these errors hae been resolved. Since version 3 is being used for the Gaia processing we have provided it to the community but any scientific use of the IGSL should use the cleaned version. The sourceIDs remain the same between the two versions. Based on the requirements discussed in the related publication. Note (4): The auxXXXX toggles are 1 if the entry was matched in the indicated catalog XXXX, 0 if not. Note (5): Identifier GSC23 (idGSC23): These are the IDs as published in the various input catalogs converted to a big integer. For the GSC23 we have had to alter slightly the name, specifically: GSC2.3 objects have original names that are combination of region names and running number, e.g. S00000001 is the first object in the region S0000000, we have converted the region names to the “official” numerical values in the htm level 6 structure, hence the smallest is S0000000 = 32768 and N3333333 = 65535 is the highest. Note (6): Identifier Tycho - 2 (idTYCHO): These are the IDs as published in Tycho2. In TYCHO-2 objects were identified by 3 numbers (TYC1,TYC2 and TYC3) and we have combined these into one complete number given by (TYC1*1000000.0d0)+(TYC2*10.0d0)+(TYC3*1.0d0). Due to an error in the inclusion of HIPPARCOS stars some HIPPARCOS objects were a TYCHO2 identifier of 9999999000000+HIPARCOS number. For the most part these should be used (when auxHIP=0) but some times they are included as they were HIPPARCOS targets not found in Tycho-2. Note (7): Identifier 2MASS (idTMASS): The Two Mass provided the names in a IAU standard fashion of 2MASS JHHMMSS.S +DDMMSS.S these were codeified as +HHMMSSSDDMMSSS. Note (8): OGLE Identifier (idOGLE): The OGLE ID is given by a combination of A region of sky identifier (RI) equal to 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 corresponding to map names blg, car, cen, lmc, mus. So the ID here is defined as the file running number (NNN.N), the running number in the file (RN) combined as: long(string(RI)+string(NNN.N * 10000))+RN. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Acknowledgements: Richard Smart smart@oato.inaf.it References: Smart, R.
